It’s not too late! | Rutherfordton, NC Photographer

So…I believe all my Christmas shopping is complete! I ordered the last thing today…a monogrammed train stocking from Pottery Barn Kids. I cannot wait to see it! My baby boy is a train lover…well…he is a planes, trains, automobiles, tractors, helicopters, bobcats, backhoes, boats, motorcycles, whatever it is it must have wheels or a propellor loving boy! Ha! He is so terribly easy to buy for right now…he is thrilled by the smallest things. He doesn’t care whether it is new or used (thanks to his thrift store junkie Mama & Nana)…doesn’t matter if it is old and dirty…or full of black widow spiders (true story…we came across a yard sale full of children’s toys that had a minimum of 4 BWS in each!).

Anyway…I digress. It is at this time of year…when I am stuffing 150+ Christmas cards…hauling out my Christmas tree alone…staying up late to fulfill orders for my wonderful clients…and watching old Christmas movies…that I have to really remind myself why all this is what it is. Do you know the story about the birth of Jesus? The baby born to a Virgin mother…the Son of God…the Savior of our World? The story is such a miraculous one…one that to some…who are not rooted deeply in their faith can begin to seem like just another story. The thing is…it is not just another story. It is real. He. Is. Real.

I am so incredibly blessed this year. My first full year in full time business. God has blessed this business exponentially. I never would have dreamed that I would be where I am today. Booking weddings for next year, photographing births, playing with children who are absolutely precious to me, and creating a studio space from scratch. Sometimes I get so busy with the runnings of a business that I forget to enjoy the fun of it. I have so many dreams for next year and the years to come. I am thrilled that I have a world of opportunity lying ahead. God is taking care of it every step of the way. This is His plan…not mine. Every time in my life that I have made my own plans…they have failed miserably! That is good though…it keeps me rooted right where I need to be. I am just a tiny seed…waiting for God to water me…so that I may grow in His Word…to become whole in Him.

Thank you to all who have checked in with me this year! I can promise this has been a labor of love…and there is a whole lot more love in me to give. I will now leave you with the lyrics of a song I heard at a concert recently…it gives a whole new perspective to the Christmas Story…the perspective of Jesus’ Mother.

Mary Did You Know?
Mary, did you know
That your baby boy
Would someday walk on water?
Mary did you know
That your baby boy
Will save our sons and daughters?
Did you know
That your baby boy
Has come to make you new?
This child that you’ve delivered
Will soon deliver you.

Mary did you know
That your baby boy
Will give sight to a blind man?
Mary did you know
That your baby boy
Will calm the storm with his hand?
Did you know that your baby boy
Has walked where angels trod?
When you kiss your little baby
You’ve kissed the face of God.
The blind will see
The deaf will hear
The dead will live again
The lame will leap
The dumb will speak
The praises of the Lamb.

Mary did you know
That your baby boy
Is Lord of all creation?
Mary did you know
That your baby boy
Will one day rule the nations?
Did you know
That your baby boy
Is heaven’s perfect Lamb?
This sleeping child you’re holding
Is the Great I Am

Here is a beautiful Video with the song and scenes from The Passion…I warn you…This will move you.

It is so true that it is easy to let the stress distract us from the real reason for the season and the hope and peace we have in Christ! I enjoy looking at your photography!
